- Do you look for a temporary big daughter or a big son that takes care of your children and takes over a simple housework?

- Are you ready to enable the au pair to attend a language course?
- Do you have another nationality than the au pair?
There are no official regulations in Italy concerning the au pairs´pocket money. Based on our experience we recommend to host families a monthly pocket money amounting to 300 €.
In addition to the pocket money your au pair to be receives from you a free board and lodging. Food and accommodation are at the au pair´s disposal also in the case of her/his of illness.
In Italy the host family and the au pair can flexibly mutually agree on how many hours in a week the au pair will work. Generally it applies to the following: An au pair may work totally not more than 30 hours/week. These 30 hours should be divided into 6 days in a week as a maximum. Furthermore it is important: An au pair may not work more than 5 hours a day, including the babysitting.
Au pairs in Italy have one day in a week off. At least once that should be a Sunday.
There are no uniform regulations in Italy as far as the au pairs´holiday concerned. Therefore you should agree on it with your au pair in advance. As a rule an au pair gets for every 6 months of her/his employment a two-week paid holiday for recreation.
Your au pair must have sufficient free time and a chance to attend a language course. Costs for the language course are borne by the au pair herself/himself. Because you are more familiar with your town it would be net if you assist your au pair in finding a suitable language course.
Au pairs coming to Italy generally bear their both-way travel costs. However, we recommend to the host families to take over totally or at least partially costs of the au pair´s return journey at the end of a stay gone without hitch.
